CIV 5 VS CIV 6
You are thinking about getting a civ game and you are not quite sure maybe what platform to get it on or what prices fear, what DLC you should consider. So we will tell you and figure which one is best to buy.
We think it is best to split it up across the three decision:
1. The First one is your Platform: What platform you are playing on.
2. Second thing is price because price matters and there is a lot of variances.
3. Third is the playability of the game.
On the Basis Of Platform
So let’s crack into the first option that is the platform that you gonna play it on. Obviously, if you have one choice then you should go with that one choice but you might have options. And the franchise as a whole has expanded a lot in the last few years.
So If you are on a home console, essentially your main option is civilization 6. And there are a couple of spin-off games available but if you are on ps4 or Xbox then really you are going with subsets. The same goes with the switch and of course, it incorporates touch controls and other fun features. So it’s closer to the mobile version, yes! Civilization 6 and a couple of the other spin-offs like revolutions are available on IOs. But you will be facing a little bit of issue on your latest iPad and it will a little bit stutter maybe 20 frames a second and that well early in the game.
And at last, you have the PC and you have civ 6 which is the latest iteration that is available on all platforms. But you also have civ 5 which came out a whopping 10 years ago but it actually still a really valued game within the community. And definitely worth your consideration, outside of that pc, you have some other options and there’s beyond earth which had an awful launch.
Second Consideration is Price
Our second consideration in civ 5 vs civ 6 is price. So on the console including switch, obviously your only real choice for the mainline franchise that is civ 6. Many People have seen civ 6 go on special across all of those platforms for about half price, so we recommend picking that up.
On IOs and mobile devices actually, you can play it for free for the first 60 turns. So it’s completely free to just give it a go. And then from then on, it is actually priced about the same as it is on any other console which only playing it on your cell phone paying $100 for the game with DLC is probably is bit much. You must know the price of expansions.
And then on PC, you have two big things that you are deciding between civ 5 or civ 6. So Now the civ 5 is 10 years old and it retails at about 30 US Dollars. Civ 6 is about 3 to 4 years old and it retails at the full 60 US Dollars price point. However, they both go on monstrous specials even civ 6, even though it’s relatively new.
The Last Consideration is Playability
The main bulk DLC packs are available at their full prices around 30 US Dollars still which is kind of ridiculous especially for civ 5 but you can never on great specials for around six dollars and it’s worth picking up. Some button not all of their DLC which transitions us nicely into our last point that is playability.
So CIV 5 vs civ 6, we think in general that civ 5 is easier in that it’s less complicated. There is a tick tree instead of a tick tree and cultural tree. Diplomacy is simpler and there are incoming and outgoing resources to manage. So for a player who’s new to the franchise or maybe new to general then civilization 5 is the better pick. They are being seared five and six which offers quite distinct features and they look very different as well their art style which is quite different.
CIV 5 is a bit gritter whereas civ 6 is slightly more cartoony. If you really care about graphics then you will want to go with civ 6 because it does just in general look better. You can see the leader portraits or city empires.
