super bros 2 was released on June 3rd, 1986, less than an after the original game’s debut. Nintendo released the game on the Famicom disk system, a new ad-on that would play games using proprietary disks. They were cheaper to make than standard cartridges and hold more data.
The first two super Mario games looked too similar, so R&D gave the Mario universe a complete makeover. EVERY SIngle character, enemy and levels, environment are brand new. There was a cutesy aesthetics to the graphics.

The game was so big and full of secrets. Nintendo worried it would overwhelm some players. so in JULY of 1990, Nintendo reveals their first full strategy guide for players and gamers, presenting super Mario bros 3. It had maps of every level, information on every enemy and power-ups and revealed every secret in the game. Fans of all ages were obsessed with the game. One group of adults fans loved the game so much, they ported it to the PC and sent it to Nintendo, hoping to secure a license.

The federal trade commission(FTC) investigated Nintendo on an assertion of antitrust contravention, such as price-fixing in order to beat the rivalry. Nintendo denied any misconduct but was ordered to send out up to $ twenty-five million dollars worth of refund to customers. The refund took the form of a $5 coupon that the buyer could only use to buy more Nintendo games.
